Title: Brigitte Bardot

Size: 13 1/2 by 18 inches. Signed N. Turner lower right front, signed and dated 2012 on the reverse, title on reverse. Acrylic and graphite on 220 gram paper from a book titled “Histoire de Lyon” (History of Lyon), by Antoine Gryphe. This book was originally published in Lyon, France, in 1573. This edition was published by Henri Chapalain in Roanne, France, in 1973. This is a rare, out of print book purchased at an auction in Paris. Two pages were removed from the book and used as a support for an original painting. The pages were removed as one large sheet of paper. The paper itself is Arches 220 gram Ingres archival paper, and the book was printed exactly as it was in 1573, with the lines of text closer together than in modern published text. After it’s original publication, the book was republished several times and in several languages. For this publication, only 350 copies of the book were printed.
